HOLY HOUR for the SICK
"Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. Therefore, confess your sins and pray for one another, that you may be healed." James 5:13a, 16a.
Please join us Wednesday, May 3 at 7PM in the Emmaus Chapel as we conduct our Holy Hour for the Sick. The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be offered.

On Care for Our Common Home
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges humankind has faced. It is daunting, but the fight against climate change is far from lost. The worst impacts can still be averted if we act now. [Following are excerpts from a presentation by Pope Francis from Vatican City.]
Our conscience tells us that we cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of those in need, to the growing economic inequalities, and social justices. The economy must consider its impacts on both the environment and on the dignity of people. Laudato Si’ proposes the concept of “integral ecology,” an invitation to an integral vision of life, starting from the conviction that everything in the world is connected, and that we are interdependent on each other, as well as on our Mother Earth. I would like to propose three courses of action to find new ways of defining progress and measuring it.
1. To promote, at every level, an education geared towards the care of our common home, developing the understanding that, based on scientific data and on an ethical approach, environmental problems are linked to human needs.
2. To focus on water and nutrition. Access to safe and drinkable water is an essential and universal right because it determines the survival of people and therefore is a condition for the exercise of all other rights and responsibilities. Providing adequate nutrition for all, through non-destructive farming methods, should become the main purpose of the entire cycle of food production and distribution.
3. Energy transmission: a gradual replacement, but without delay, of fossil fuels with clean energy sources. Not only must this transition be quick and capable of meeting present and future energy needs, it must also be attentive to the impact on the poor, on local populations, as well as on those who work in the energy production sectors. The current economic system is unsustainable. We are faced with the moral imperative and the practical urgency to rethink many things: the way we consume; our short-term vision; the exploitation of the poor and our indifference towards them; the growing inequalities and our dependence on harmful energy sources.
St. Charles St Vincent de Paul News:
Here in South Jersey, 1 in 6 people suffer from food insecurity, which means they might not know where their next meal is coming from. St. Charles SVdP through our Food Pantry in the Religious Education Center, helps this situation every day.
GIVE WHAT YOU CAN to help us continue this work. See our Cupboard and Prayer in Church and consider preparing for Easter with us. The Diocese of Camden is organizing the annual faithF
ULL Food Drive. On Sun, March 26, every parish, and school in the diocese will collect food for local pantries, just like St. Charles SVdP's Food Pantry. Please bring food donations to Mass with you on Mar 25 or 26. Our goal this year is to see what we CAN collect with GIVE WHAT YOU CAN.
Food Pantry Needs: 6 - 684 Items can be dropped at the Religious Ed Center Mon-Thurs 9-12, Tues. Night 5-6:30 PM or Sundays 9-11:30.
Items can also be dropped off in our Welcome Center in Church before or after Mass on the weekend or the Parish Center – Front Porch vestibule open day and night. If there is someone you know who might be experiencing a hard time we are here to help. Please tell them to call 856-818-7670 and leave a message. A Vincentian volunteer will give them a call back.
